Stop being intimidated by foreclosures
If you’re not aware of what the foreclosure process looks like, it can be pretty scary. You make it a lot less discouraging by studying the steps of foreclosure. And that’s why you need to block out the time to learn the foreclosure process and see what steps you can take to stop it from happening.
The first missed payment is also the first step on the path to foreclosure. After a few weeks, you will receive a notice from the lender telling you you’ve missed a payment. If it’s at all possible, pay the past due bill. But if you don’t pay the past due payment, the mortgage company will call. If you speak with them, they will officially announce to you that you are in default. If this is happening to you, contact your lender.
If you get hold of your lender soon enough, you may get the chance to do mortgage loan modification. Going through this process can be one of the best ways to avoid mortgage foreclosure. If you get behind on payments for more than 3 months, odds are that your lender will file for foreclosure. It can take a bit longer than that, but if you keep missing payments you will be sent a foreclosure notice eventually.
When that foreclosure letter hits your doormat, you’ve got a problem. There will be a court hearing about your case, but you will lose because you’re violating the terms of your mortgage contract. The banking company gets the right to sell your house through an auction when the court hearing is over. When the auction process is set in motion, you only have a couple of days to leave your home. If you don’t you will be evicted.
Meet with your lender before it gets to this point. Oftentimes, mortgage loan modification can be a solution to your problems and it would be a shame to squander that opportunity. When applying for a mortgage loan modification, make sure you study the paperwork so you have the best chance of getting your application accepted.
