Enjoy Gorgeous Chinese Brush Paintings — Galloping Horses

Liu li Chang street is a very famous art street in Beijing, very close to Beijing HWA Apartment Hotel. In that street, there is a good studio that offers beautiful horse paintings by Mr. Wang Zixian. If you want to send a typical Chinese gifts to your friends, or if you want to decorate your room, you shouldn’t miss his vivid horse paintings!

I was deeply attracted by the tremendous display of horse paintings when I visited his studio last week.

His favorite painting depicts a thousand horses galloping together on a great prairie. It symbolizes people who work hard for the same goal.

The most popular painting is”Jump and Fly into the Sky”: it has an excited horse jumping high, almost out of the canvas. It is copied from the pattern of a horse on a old Chinese antique.

From my talk with Mr. Wang, I knew that he started to paint when he was very young. In order to master this art, he lived in Inner Mongolia for several months. There, he painted over 1,000 horses while watching horses running on the prairie. With this experience, he created his own style of painting horses.

Learn Chinese Culture from Mr. Li Feng’s Calligraphy Art

Calligraphy is one of the most typical art forms that stand for Chinese Culture. It shows the beauty of painting, dance, and music; so beautiful and delicate!

Walking near the Beijing International Hotel, I found Mr. Li Feng’s Studio by chance. I love his masterful calligraphy very much! It’s an unforgettable experience to watch a calligraphy master create his own personal work on the spot!

He told me he learned to write calligraphy when he was seven. After many years of study and research, he created his own style of calligraphy—- clerical regular script. Most of the calligraphy artwork displayed in his studio is done in this special style.

The on named “Dragon” is quite striking. Can you imagine that Mr. Li wrote it with only one stroke? What amazing is that this calligraphy work is square on the outside and round inside.

I also liked one piece of art describing scenery. It is distinguished by the hardness of the characters. The lines looks like they’re carved on stone.

Mr. Li told me that clerical regular script first appeared in China 2,000 years ago. Now he is the only calligrapher who writes in this way today. Be sure to visit his shop on your way back to your Beijing hotel!
